Dental Implant Complications

Specialized evaluation and treatment for dental implants.

← Back to Dental Implants

Dental implants are highly successful, but complications can occasionally occur — whether from the way an implant was originally placed, the quality or quantity of the surrounding bone, or how the site has healed over time.

Dr. Kelleher regularly evaluates and treats implants that were placed elsewhere and have run into problems, including infection, bone loss, or esthetic concerns.

Because every complication is different, treatment is individualized. Depending on the diagnosis, care may involve peri-implantitis treatment, bone or gum grafting to rebuild lost support, or in severe cases, implant removal and preparation for a replacement implant.

Treating implant complications requires an accurate diagnosis and an experienced eye, since the right solution depends on exactly what has gone wrong and why. Dr. Kelleher takes the time to fully evaluate each case before recommending a path forward, with the goal of relieving discomfort, protecting the surrounding bone and gum tissue, and restoring a stable, healthy result.
